Waikuku Beach Surf Life Saving is the only life saving club that provides a junior surf program and a volunteer lifeguard service north of the Waimakariri. Waikuku SLSC patrol from the surf club up to the Ashley River. 2017 Canterbury Awards of Excellence - Rescue of the Year
