Club Overview

Orewa SLSC was formed in 1950 by members of Milford SLSC which had fallen into recess. At this time the Estuary outflow travelled north along the beach and ended about where the club now sits. This made the beach quite dangerous and was the reason that the club is sited where it is. In the late 1950s the Air Force bombed the channel in the Estuary and this changed the river out flow straight out to sea. 2015 Northern Region Awards of Excellence - Junior Competition Club of the Year; Winner Junior Surf Championships 2016 Northern Awards of Excellence - Cath & Eddie Millar Cup (Junior Surf Team Event) 2016 Northern Awards of Excellence - Junior Competition Club of the Year 2016 Northern Awards of Excellence - Masters Competition Club of the Year 2016 Northern Awards of Excellence - Pool Championship Winners 2016 SLSNZ Awards of Excellence - Gudsell Trophy (highest number of suarf lifeguard awards gained in one year) 2017 Northern Region Awards of Excellence - Club of the Year
