Records smashed on second day of pool champs

New Zealand records continued to be smashed on Day Two of the 2016 New Zealand Pool Championships in Auckland today.

Thirteen records were broken across the age groups to bring the total to 37 new NZ records from 101 events so far in the competition.

The success didn't stop there with a new World Record being broken by Orewa's Sandra Burrow in the 65-69 Masters Women's 100m Obstacle Swim with a time of 1.33.17 - the old record being 1:39.50.

Day two's racing saw the Junior's swim with fins, 4x50m rescue medley, 50m, brick carry without fins, 50m swim with obstacles and 100m swim with obstacles this morning followed by the Under 16, Under 19, Open and Masters 200 and 100m swim with obstacles, line throw, 100m rescue medley and 50m manikin carry without fins in the afternoon.

At the end of Day Two, Mount Maunganui remain at the top of the club points table ahead of Orewa and Mairangi Bay. St Clair and Red Beach round out the top five.

Racing continues from 8am tomorrow morning at the Sir Owen G. Glenn National Aquatic Centre at AUT Millennium in Auckland.

Events will include the 200m super lifesaver, 4x50m obstacle relay, 100m tube swim with patient and fins, 100m manikin tow with fins and 6x50m mega relay.

This year's event has drawn a record 603 entries from athletes around the county.
