Welcome to Surf Life Saving Central Region

In September 2009 at the Surf Life Saving New Zealand AGM the membership endorsed a new constitution for the organisation. This means significant structural change for Surf Life Saving. Below is a simple diagram explaning the new structure:

Pre and post organisation restructure

Support for the clubs in the former Wellington area (Lyall Bay, Maranui, Worser Bay, Titahi Bay, Paekakariki) is now provided by staff employed by Surf Life Saving, but based locally.  The Club Development Officer for the Greater Wellington/Western Districts area is Brent Harvey. Matt Warren, former District Manager is now Central Region Programmes and Services Manager.

Brent was awarded the Lottery Grants SLSNZ Lifeguard of the Year in 2006. That award is a reflection of Brent’s passion and dedication to Surf Life Saving. Brent is a member of the Paekakariki SLSC, where he has held numerous positions including Patrol Captain, Club Captain and Coach. Brent comes to us from the NZ Navy where he has been for nine years, most recently working in the recruitment division. Brent will be based in Wellington. Brent can be contacted on 027 557 1010, or at brent.harvey@surflifesaving.org.nz

Brent Harvey

(Riversdale, formerly part of Wellington District is now assisted by David Beattie, the Club Development Officer based in Napier).

Thank you for your patience during this transition period. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

With thanks to our supporters in the Wellington region:
