In September 2009 at the Surf Life Saving New Zealand AGM the membership endorsed a new constitution for the organisation. This means significant structural change for Surf Life Saving. Below is a simple diagram explaning the new structure:
Support for the clubs in the former Hawkes bay district (Ocean Beach Kiwi, Pacific, Waimarama, and Westshore, and also Riversdale, formerly part of Wellington district) is now provided by staff employed by Surf Life Saving, but based locally. The Club Development Officer for this area is David Beattie.
David is a member of the Westshore SLSC and was also a member of the SLSHB Board. A passionate clubbie, David has been involved with a number of Hawkes Bay recruitment and profile raising initiatives. Mostly recently overseeing a ‘trade show’ at the Hawkes Bay A&P show where the exhibit was judged ‘best outdoor and overall exhibit’. David will be based in Napier.
