Welcome to Surf Life Saving Eastern Region

In September 2009 at the Surf Life Saving New Zealand AGM the membership endorsed a new constitution for the organisation. This means significant structural change for Surf Life Saving. Below is a simple diagram explaning the new structure:

Pre and post organisation restructure

Gisborne will complete this transition in February 2010.

Support for the clubs in the Gisborne district will then be provided by staff employed by Surf Life Saving, but based locally. The Club Development Officer for this area will be Jeremy Lockwood. Before Jeremy's official start as a CDO in February 2010 he is covering the District Manager role following the resignation of Debbie Hutchings.

Jeremy is a current member of the Wainui SLSC and has held numerous roles within his club and the district. Jeremy was a member of the SLSNZ Leadership group in 2001/02. His passion for member development combined with his key current emergency service contacts will ensure that the clubs within the Gisborne area are provided with high level of service. Jeremy will be based in Gisborne.

NB: due to securing additional funding Rama Robertson’s current Club Development role has been extended until the end February 2010. Rama will be able to continue his excellent work supporting Clubs over the busy summer period.

Jeremy can be contacted on 027 4571024, or email him.

Jeremy Lockwood

Thank you for your patience during this transition period. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
