Danger Beach Muriwai! 8pm Tuesdays on PRIME

Danger Beach - 8pm Mondays on PRIME

Danger Beach is a brand new series screeing at 8pm on PRIME every Tuesday. It follows the unsung heroes of Muriwai Surf Lifesaving Club as they put their lives on the line to keep one of New Zealand’s most stunning, yet most dangerous beaches safe.

From dramatic rescue attempts, rock rescues and spectacular helicopter pick ups to training mishaps; and a family’s worst nightmare as their child goes missing - Danger Beach will give the public public a glimpse into the workings of one of New Zealand's busiest surf clubs.

Filmed through the summer season, our young volunteer guards risk their own lives in the name of protecting the public. Lets meet the team:

Dave Butt, Club Captain

At only 21 years of age Dave is a key member of the Muriwai Surf Life Saving Club. He’s been a active member since the age of 14 and is now the Club Captain and part of the crack IRB team that came third at the national trials last year. Dave’s a pretty competitive guy and wants to take the title this year, but more importantly, he wants to keep his beach safe for the summer season.

Chris Butt, Lifeguard

The younger brother of the Club Captain, Chris is detemined to prove himself this season. When the Butt family first moved to Muriwai, Chris’s mother sent him to the surf club to learn to be safe in the Wild West coast surf. At first the rugged conditions frightened him but he learnt to love and respect Muriwai.

Brad McConnochie, Senior Lifeguard

It is Brad’s first season as a senior lifeguard and he is out to prove that he’s got what it takes to be a successful lifeguard. But he knows it won’t be easy, with Club Captain Dave expecting him to step up and take a lot of responsibility on patrol and in the competitive arena.
